Wizz Air is taking bold steps to strengthen its position in Poland’s aviation market. The airline is expanding operations at both Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport and Wroclaw Airport, adding over one million additional seats across these two bases. This move not only bolsters its service network but also contributes to local tourism and regional economies. The introduction of new routes and increased flight frequencies underscores Wizz Air’s ongoing commitment to enhancing connectivity in Poland and beyond.

The expansion of Wizz Air’s operations in Gdansk and Wroclaw will significantly benefit travelers seeking affordable and accessible air travel. The airline is set to add new routes to popular destinations across Europe, enriching travel choices for those planning vacations or business trips. With the addition of 11 new routes, travelers can expect more frequent connections between Poland and cities like Athens, Nice, Tallinn, and Vilnius. This increase in available flights will not only ease the travel process but also attract more tourists to Poland, boosting inbound travel.

Gdansk, already an established hub for Wizz Air, will see the addition of a ninth Airbus A321neo by May 2026. This new aircraft will support five new routes, contributing over 500,000 extra seats. These routes will connect Poland’s Pomerania region to popular international destinations, making it easier for tourists to visit and explore the Baltic coast. The expansion at Gdansk comes as part of a broader effort by Wizz Air to grow its presence in the Polish market and further integrate the country’s key airports into the airline’s European network.

Wroclaw’s role in Wizz Air’s strategy is also being reinforced with the base of a third Airbus A321neo in June 2026. This move will open up additional destinations, such as Reykjavik, Dortmund, and Gran Canaria, further enriching the city’s connections to Europe. By expanding its flight network to 22 routes across 17 countries, Wizz Air is providing more travel options for both tourists and business travelers alike. This expansion aligns with growing demand for affordable air travel options that connect central Europe to other major cities around the world.

The new routes are expected to play a key role in the tourism growth for Lower Silesia and Pomerania. With over 1 million new seats available between the two airports, Wizz Air is supporting a more seamless travel experience for inbound and outbound tourists. Gdansk’s proximity to the Baltic Sea makes it a prime tourist destination, while Wroclaw’s rich cultural history and stunning architecture are major draws for international travelers. By making it easier for tourists to reach these regions, Wizz Air’s expansion will help stimulate tourism and increase economic activity in these areas.

Beyond the direct impact on tourism, the new aircraft and routes are likely to stimulate the local economy. Increased traffic at both airports will support local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to transport services. The expansion is also expected to create jobs in the region, benefiting the local workforce. With more flights arriving and departing daily, the flow of tourists will fuel demand for a variety of services, further cementing the role of Gdansk and Wroclaw as essential European travel hubs.

Between January and October 2025, Wizz Air operated over 49,000 flights in Poland, carrying more than 11 million passengers. The ongoing expansion in Gdansk and Wroclaw is part of a larger strategy to continue growth in the Polish market while maintaining affordable prices for tourists and travelers alike.

With this continued expansion, Wizz Air is reinforcing its leadership role in Polish aviation. The increase in flights, routes, and seats will provide more travel choices for tourists, enhancing Poland’s reputation as a premier European destination for both leisure and business travelers.
